Water from the brook and food delivered by crows

A time to relook at fundamentals

Once in a while, there comes a time when there is no urgent deadline to deal with and no meetings to go. The heaven also decides to rain so you cannot even get out for a walk.

You should then realise that you have been given the luxury of time to rest, and perhaps to contemplate.

So lately I have been reflecting and thinking about food. And this does not involve checking out sourdough bread recipes or reading restaurant reviews on my food app.

There is this story of a very solid high achiever. Having reached the top of the world suddenly he crashed and at some point had to rely on simple things — drinking water from the brook and eating food brought to him by ravens (dirty birds like crows, gosh). He was also feeling depressed and isolated. No one understands me, I am the only one in the world who feels this way —these were probably his thoughts.

I am reminded that in certain seasons in life we need to be able to be contented with very basic stuff and very few activities. It may or may not be due to circumstances of choice. But it is not a crime when we are not productive. We should be able to find peace and be unapologetic about it. There is also strength involved when one is able to adjust to all sorts of circumstances.

Detox. Declutter. Scrub. Consolidate. Reorg. There is indeed a time for them, and they are all good. We rejoice when we level up. But I tell myself to be steady and not fearful when I can level down too.
